Colony 47 provides a range of community development programs, services and events to support Tasmanian families.
Financial Counselling and Literacy support
This is a state-wide program to provide immediate access and support for clients experiencing financial difficulties. The emphasis of the service is to build the clients capacity to make financially sustainable decisions.
Aboriginal Community Pathways supports the Aboriginal Community to access responsive and culturally appropriate support in Launceston and surrounding areas. The 2015/16 program has 6 activities including an information and referral service, in Deloraine the construction of a Bush Tucker Trail, culturally sensitive excursions, expos and events, community gardening including cooking, craft and yarning, and resources relating to family violence and drug and alcohol abuse.

Building Safer Communities for Women: “What will it take: Our community talks, listens, acts”.
This program is Launceston based and takes an action research approach to reducing family violence in one community. It involves the community and Colony 47 working side by side to ask and answer a set of questions which will provide a “community led” direction and actions. An education strand is facilitated and runs throughout the program. Community advocates/champions are formally trained and accredited to provide to identify and implement sustainable local solutions.
