Residential Youth Worker – Mara House

Full-Time, Fixed-Term (Parental Leave Cover)

About the Role

Mara House provides short term accommodation for young women who may not have a safe place to stay. Our Residential Youth Workers have a critical role in supporting the amazing people who reside with us. Mara House supports young women to achieve independence from the housing and homelessness support system.

Our Residential Youth Workers provide essential skills, knowledge and support to assist residents to achieve independence from the youth housing and homelessness support system; they provide day-to-day crisis support and therapeutic interventions while supporting residents to achieve their goals in life.

Housing Connect Local Area Coordinator

 Full Time, Fixed Term (12 months)

 Colony 47 is a Tasmanian not-for-profit organisation that has worked alongside Tasmanians in need for over 40 years. We are a non-denominational organisation committed to strong values, putting clients at the centre of our thoughts and actions, and collaborating closely with others inside and outside the community sector.

Colony 47 is the lead agency for Housing Connect in Southern Tasmania and along with our collaborative partners Anglicare, Hobart City Mission, Catholic Care and the Salvation Army, we provide intake, assessment and support services to all people at risk of/or experiencing homelessness.


About the Role

As Local Area Coordinator you will enjoy delivering homelessness prevention and early intervention activities in close conjunction with others, including mainstream and specialist service providers through your role as chair of the Southern Regional Reference Group.

You will provide a central point of liaison between Housing Connect service providers to develop and formalise collaborative partnerships with consumers, mainstream services and other key stakeholders to address homelessness in Southern Tasmania.

Your agile, flexible and innovative approach along with your strong leadership abilities will enable you to provide direction and guidance to the Emergency Support Program team – an assertive outreach service within Housing Connect.

Your strong community engagement and project management skills will empower and equip you to make a difference in people’s lives.

This position is a full-time role working within the community across greater Hobart and Southern Tasmania. This role is to cover a period of parental leave and is available for 12 months.
