Colony Partnership Brokers

Colony Partnership Brokers focus on building partnerships to support young people to attain Year 12 or equivalent qualifications and to reach their full educational and social potential. Partnerships are designed to foster a strategic, whole of community approach to improving education and transition outcomes for young people.

Current priorities are to:

• improve student access to information and experiences of employment, careers and career pathways [TAS01];
• improve transitions from rural and remote areas of the region for young people [TAS01];
• increase the number of students involved in VET programs, Trade Training Centres and careers in trades, including improved literacy and numeracy levels [TAS01];
• reduce barriers to Youth Attainment and Transition connected with social and emotional wellbeing for young people [TAS01];
• raise students' aspirations, attainment and employability skills, particularly in schools with low SES and/or high Aboriginal students [TAS02]; and
• improve the education and transition outcomes of humanitarian entrant and newly-arrived students [TAS02].

Colony Partnership Brokers can assist by identifying potential partners, bringing them to the table, and helping them agree on how they can work together to achieve a common goal. They provide tailored support as partners move through the various stages of partnership development.
