Volunteers

Why Volunteer?

"Anyone can choose to volunteer. It is all about taking the first step and trying something you have always wanted to do and by volunteering, not only will you be supporting a worthwhile cause but you also have the chance to develop further skills, meet new people and feel good about being involved." Sha Cordingley, Volunteer Australia CEO.

Colony 47 has a variety of volunteering opportunities available in one off events or in one of our regular services. All Colony 47 Volunteers are also invited to become Friends of Colony. To find something to suit you, have a look at our Volunteering Opportunities Brochure.

Who are our VOLUNTEERS?

The profile of our volunteers

Volunteering is a personal matter. Contribution of individuals across the nation average that approximately 30% of Australians volunteer for some activities through out each year.

At Colony 47 our volunteers range from those that contribute to the funning of our Board of Governance to those that assist at Community Central and those that assist at one off events such as the family day held in the Tasman in 2004.

In 2004-2005

This year showed that volunteers contributed to approximately 1800 hours of service to assisting the community through the services of Colony 47. These volunteers help out in the Community Central program, JPET program, Job Pathways program, Reconnect program and with the Christmas Lunch. A VERY BIG thank you to all the volunteers that have helped out.
