Aboriginal Gathering Group This group was developed in response to the outcomes of a community consultation with members of the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community and Colony 47 staff in 2002. From that consultation process, a Reference Group was established to advise and guide Colony 47 to improve its access and service delivery to Aboriginal persons and to the Aboriginal community generally. This Group has since revised the original objectives and has broadened its membership base. Terms of Reference have been developed that form a basis for an ongoing direction of this Group in 2005. Objectives: To create long term change within Colony 47 to improve organisation wide policies and procedures re Aboriginal access to programs. Investigate options for establishing an Indigenous specific worker position.Improve service delivery to Aboriginal clients and the Aboriginal community. Develop long term reciprocal relationships with the Aboriginal community and agencies To support the Aboriginal community in reaching their aspirations within the Tasmanian community where appropriate.
