Introducing the new President of the Colony 47 Board

Mr Catchpole has been a valued member of the Colony 47 Board for the past seven years and brings with him to the role of President a wealth of experience, expertise and a clear vision of the future.

Formerly an IT and management consultant with Tasmania’s Hydro Electric Commission and later a private consulting firm, Andrew Catchpole is now Hydro Tasmania’s General Manager Communications and External Relations.

“My focus is to pursue the vision of Colony 47 whilst overseeing how the organisation is performing financially, culturally and to the highest possible standard of service excellence to our clients”, said Mr Catchpole.

As a member of the Board Mr Catchpole was part of the development and implementation of The Strategic Plan that has been in place for the last three years.

This plan recognised a need to build more discretionary funding for Colony 47, an enormous challenge in an environment such as Tasmania’s with few opportunities for large corporations to be able to provide unencumbered funding as part of their sponsorship program.

Mr Catchpole says, “The challenge for Colony is to say, ‘okay, how can we make it happen?’ How can we take charge of that agenda ourselves to give our organisation the ability to address the gaps that we see in service delivery? This is very much in our vision.”

Colony 47 has recently entered into a joint venture with Housing Choices Australia to provide housing for people on low incomes throughout Tasmania. Colony Housing Choices brings a new dimension to the operation of Colony 47.

“It is tremendously exciting as we are now at the front end of creating more affordable housing and it feels like a very active way of dealing with an issue in society. It also provides some important balance for Colony to not always be working at the challenging end of the cycle but to be up the front driving really positive change in our community.”

Colony 47 would like welcome the new President of the Colony 47 Board of Directors and thank former President Tracey Matthews for her ongoing commitment as Director.
