‘It takes a village to educate a child’

Colony 47 is seeking to fill a position within an exciting new initiative: the School Business Community Partnership Brokers. For the most part in Tasmania we expect that schools and colleges will educate young people without assistance from the broader community. The Partnership Broker program seeks to change this so that business and industry, families and the broader community to support education. The program establishes partnerships which assists schools to extend learning beyond the classroom, increase student engagement, lift attainment and improve educational outcomes in southern Tasmania. The successful applicant will have background and experience in one or more of the following sectors - education, business and community. They will:

  • Engage, influence and build relationships with key stakeholder groups, networks and individuals
  • Communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Identify, establish, support and monitor partnerships with education, industry, families and the community
  • Work within a team to develop strategies that improve educational achievement and transition outcomes for young Tasmanian
  • Work collaboratively through sharing information and jointly targeting initiatives with Youth Connections providers in the region and other Colony 47 programs.

Applications close Thursday 9th September 2010.
