Mara House

Mara House provides 24 hour supported accommodation for young homeless women aged 13 – 18 years.

Residents of Mara may be disadvantaged in many ways including being isolated from family and their community, being a victim of violence and having trouble at school.

Mara House provides a safe place for a young woman to live, whilst she is supported to reconnect with family, education and community and return home if it is safe to do, or move into long term suitable accommodation.

Our work with the young women is broad and encompasses housing, health, education, and developing positive relationships. Young women who stay at Mara House are given the opportunity to develop practical skills such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning; and more importantly to develop good communication skills.
