Friends of Colony (FOC)

What is "Friends of Colony"?

Friends of Colony has been set up to encourage interested individuals as well as local businesses to partner with our community organisation. We value community interest and involvement in Colony 47 and Friends of Colony has become a vehicle through which community service is encouraged, facilitated and supported.

Who are Friends of Colony?
Large organisations, small businesses, everyday people like you and me.

What will I have to do once I join "Friends of Colony"?
Nothing unless you want to! Just joining means you are contributing to making a difference to the life of someone less fortunate so, if you are a busy person or you can't spare staff to help out, know that your membership still means a lot. However, some people have always wanted to do more for their community but don't know where to start. At Colony 47 we can talk with you about ways you can help and you will discover you have skills you didn't even realise would be needed and valued.

Each year Friends of Colony members make sure everyone has a merry Christmas by helping out at Colony 47's Christmas Lunch.

How can joining benefit your business?
By being a supporter through Friends of Colony membership your business is demonstrating good corporate citizenship. As a Corporate Friend of Colony we would promote your business (logo) at Colony 47 events such as the Christmas Lunch, our Annual General Meeting and media events. This would be an excellent opportunity for your business to be seen as giving support to a large community organisation and get involved in volunteering. If you would like to know more go to our volunteer webpage or dowload our current volunteer opportunities brochure.

Some of the ways current Friends of Colony members contribute are through our Drop in Centre, at the Annual Christmas Lunch, at our stall at Dads Day Out, at working bees, or with the Blokes program and Project Argonaut. We would also acknowledge your support in the Annual Report and on the internet as a supporter of Colony 47.

The membership fee for businesses joining the Friends of Colony is $100.00 (GST Inc.) per year. Higher contributions have been made by some Friends of Colony, you are welcome to do the same. The membership fee can be paid by Cheque or Credit Card.

Why take out individual membership?
Becoming a Friend of Colony is a good opportunity to get involved in volunteering. It provides an avenue for people who feel they "want to do something but don't know how to go about it" to offer their help and get guidance on how best it can be utilised to benefit others in the community. It can be fun and rewarding as you see the effects reflected in peoples faces. It also allows you to see first hand how government funds and community donations are utilised in our services. Some of the ways current Friends of Colony members contribute are through our Drop in Centre, at the Annual Christmas Lunch, at our stall at Dads Day Out, or with the Blokes program and Project Argonaut. If you would like to know more go to our volunteer webpage or dowload our current volunteer opportunities brochure.

The membership fee for individuals joining the Friends of Colony is $25.00 (GST Inc.) per year. If you have a Health Care Card in your name the membership is $10.00 (GST Inc). The membership fee can be paid by Cheque, Cash or Credit Card.
