About Us -- What we do
Colony 47 exists to protect vulnerable Tasmanians in our community. We provide services to anyone who needs help;
- Families unable to find a house to live in
- Homeless young women
- Youth who are having trouble at school
- Work options for people with mental illness
- A drop-in centre for Tasmanians who are living on our streets
- Options for people exiting the prison service
We help people overcome their immediate crisis and offer ways to find long-term solutions to their problems. We offer a range of programs for Tasmanians in need including; financial help for people on low-incomes, housing options for Tasmanians at risk of homelessness, help for homeless teens, care for people with mental illness, counselling for people experiencing a relationship breakdown or domestic violence, and emergency relief.
Colony 47 delivers innovative services that are client-focussed and we are constantly looking for ways to make a difference in the lives of Tasmanians in need.
We also offer an Aboriginal information and referral service.
